Lacrosse champs
Memorial Knights players Ben Moseley and Patrick Smith (pictured, from left) fight for a faceoff ball in the Greater Houston Youth Lacrosse Association (GHYLA) championship game against The Woodlands. The Knights’ 7 Black team finished the regular season in first place, with a record of 11-1, and outscored its opponents, overall, 143-39. The team played strong all weekend at the GHYLA tournament, with wins against Pin Oak, Magnolia and The Woodlands. This is the second season for the Memorial Knights Lacrosse Club, which has six teams for fifth- through eighth-grade boys who are zoned to either Memorial High School or Stratford High School. Of the six teams, four qualified for playoffs and two teams, 7 Black and 5/6 Black, won championships.
