Event Roundup: What to Look Forward to This Weekend
Happy Friday! Here are some events planned for this weekend including some Harvey benefit events:
Hurricane Harvey Relief Concerts
Axelrad is donating 100 percent of profits for the week and matching dollar for dollar all funds raised through its Youcaring Hurricane Harvey Campaign up to $5000. Live music starts at 2 p.m. on weekends.
Cars in the Park: Exotics & Classics
Car enthusiasts, head to Evelyn's Park on Sat. morning to see classic cars and trucks and exotic cars.
Hurricane Harvey Relief Handmade Pop Up
Shop for a good cause on Saturday, 12-5 p.m. at Pop Shop America. The Hurricane Harvey Relief Pop Up will raise funds for the GHCF Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund and other relief efforts. Shop a mini collection of some local Houston makers and enjoy complimentary cocktails, macarons and hands-on DIYs.
#TexasArtistsStrong: Pop-up Exhibition and Fundraiser
Fresh Arts, in collaboration with Spring Street Studios and the local artist community, has launched a disaster relief exhibition, #TexasArtistsStrong: Pop-up Exhibition and Fundraiser by Texas Artists for Texas Artists. The exhibit will take place on Sat. at Spring Street Studios, 2-7 p.m. and will feature work by Houston artists.
Oktoberfest Houston kicks off this Sun. at King’s Bierhaus. Look forward to beer and food specials, polka music, beer pong and more.
The Houston Texans season opener vs. Jacksonville Jaguars will take place this Sunday. Kickoff is at noon. The Texans have several special events to pay tribute to Harvey victims, first responders and the city of Houston.
Nikki Glaser at Houston Improv
Comedian and actor Nikki Glaser will perform at Houston Improv this Friday and Saturday evening with a special performance on Sun. evening as a fundraiser for victims of Hurricane Harvey. All proceeds from the Sunday show will go toward Harvey relief efforts.
