DeCory, a 14-year-old Memorial High School freshman, has been showcasing his smooth vocals and assortment of dance moves at Houston area events for years. He recently took his talents to the national stage where he performed as a finalist on FOX’s legendary talent show, Showtime at the Apollo, hosted by Steve Harvey.

DeCory’s performance received a standing ovation. “Winning the ‘Showtime at the Apollo’ was absolutely just mind blowing. I was so nervous, but when everything was said and done it was the best experience ever. It was just a special moment for me and I will always treasure it,” DeCory said.

After his performance, Steve Harvey asked, “Think you might have a little girlfriend after this is over?”

DeCory responded, “No!

Mr. Harvey gave him a questioning expression.

To which DeCory answered, “I’ve got to stay focused!”

The crowd roared, loving this talented kid from Texas even more.

DeCory won the episode.

One of DeCory’s biggest fans is his freshman math teacher, Ms. Rachel Briscoe. She enthusiastically post links of his performances on the homework page so all her math students can see them.

DeCory gained Internet fame after the YouTube video of him performing Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean in a 2016 musical showcase at Spring Branch Middle School reached more than two million views.
