Houston Greek Fest
Opa! The Houston Greek Fest is happening all weekend at St. Basil the Great Greek Orthodox Church. Enjoy a family-friendly festival including delicious food, pastries, church tours, shopping, dancing, children’s activities and more.
Books Alive! 9th Annual Children’s Book Celebration
Houston Public Library hosts its 9th annual Children’s Book Celebration on Saturday, including an author talk and book signing with Nathan Hale. There will also be arts and crafts, spy science, laser tag, a photo booth, a trackless train, wax hands and more.
Bayou Jamboree and Crawfish Boil
Market Square Park will host its annual Bayou Jamboree and Crawfish Boil Saturday afternoon. The New Orleans style band Bayou Roux will perform with an opening set by NOLA Hustlers Brass Band.
Empty Bowls 2018
This lunch fundraiser on Sunday is a collaboration between local ceramists, woodturners and artists and Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. Proceeds go to Houston Food Bank. The empty bowls serve as a reminder of all the empty bowls in our community and around the world. There will be live music, artist demonstrations, and more.
The Great Texas BBQ Festival
Look forward to a fun festival including 20 bands, 20 Texas BBQ teams, 15 craft beers and more Sat.-Sun. at Sam Houston Park.
The Royal Reception
Everyone’s buzzing about the royal wedding. Toast England’s newest newlyweds at a royal reception in the CityCentre plaza on Saturday, 5-8 p.m. Dance to wedding band tunes, enjoy macaron wedding cake and watch a rebroadcast of the Royal Wedding
MFAH Free Community Day
On Sunday, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, presents Celebrating Community: Opening Dayf rom noon to 4 p.m., inaugurating the new Glassell School of Art, The Brown Foundation, Inc. Plaza and the BBVA Compass Roof Garden. There will be a variety of family activities including art-making, performances and more.
