HSPVA Proudly Celebrates Sarah Grace
The Houston blues musician and Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA) sophomore, Sarah Grace, secured her spot last week as a semi-finalist on the NBC singing competition and television show The Voice.
Monday evening was the semi-final performance night on the show, and in honor of Sarah Grace and her presence as a top 8 contestant, HSPVA Student Council held a final watch party in the school’s Denney Theater. The event was filled with friends, refreshments and an unwavering support for Sarah Grace.
At the very opening of the episode, the HSPVA crowd was ecstatic for their beloved classmate. As the show’s host Carson Daly announced Sarah Grace as the first performer of the night, the students, teachers and faculty cheered her on and the enthusiastic energy filled the theater.
From the beginning to end of Sarah Grace’s rendition of Sign of the Times, the audience intently watched the projected screen as the young artist proved her amazing talent not only vocally, but also as an instrumentalist with the piano. Sarah Grace is actually a student from the instrumental department at HSPVA, and this is the second time on The Voice she has showcased her musical talents beyond vocal - along with her trumpet infused and nationally-charted performance of Amazing Grace last week. “It is incredible how well-rounded of a musician she is!” exclaimed one HSPVA instrumentalist during Sarah Grace’s performance.
After the performances of Monday, Sarah Grace’s supporters from HSPVA and beyond eagerly awaited the results that would come the following night when the final 4 of the 2018 The Voice season would be discovered.
Unfortunately, on Tuesday night during the live semi-final results, it was announced that Sarah Grace will not be making it to the finals of The Voice. However, as the HSPVA community has explained again and again throughout Sarah Grace’s presence on the show, “we are all so tremendously proud of her”, and “it has been wonderful to see how far she has come.” There are truly great things in store for the talented musical powerhouse that is Sarah Grace.
Sarah Grace herself is also extremely grateful for the opportunity of having been on the show in the first place and at such a young age (she started The Voice at only 15). As her final words on The Voice stage, she described how her journey on the show has been such an amazing experience and taught her, as she stated, “the power I have as an artist.”
