Last Saturday, the Emery’s upper school hosted in a school dance, otherwise known as Winter Formal. The underclassmen representatives of the Student Government Club are responsible for planning and coordinating the dance.
his year, the theme was A Night Under the Stars, and it was revealed to the students during upper school assembly known as Ma’amad. The Winter Formal preview was made to get everyone excited about the dance and to inform them about logistics such as ticket sales and dance start and finish time. Winter Formal is also a dance in which students can bring dates as the boys traditionally ask the girls to the dance with creative signs or posters.
Before Winter Formal starts, one person from each grade hosts grade-wide pictures where students can get pictures with their friends. After pictures, dates can organize dinner plans with their friends before the dance starts at 7:30 and lock-in at 8:30.
Winter Formal is always a key event in the schedule because it allows for students to have fun with their friends and relax over the weekend. It is the premier dance of the year, is the most popular, and overall favored by the Emery students.
