Happy Friday! Kick off the month of April by checking out some of these fun events.
West U Outdoor Event Series
Start your Friday evening with a free, outdoor concert at Colonial Park, featuring the Texas Brass Ensemble! Texas Brass gained a huge following after performing at the Houston International Festival for multiple years. This is the first in a series of three outdoor performances hosted by West University Place Parks & Recreation.
Party at the Pavilion Featuring Sarah Grace
Watch The Voice star Sarah Grace perform live on Friday night at this month’s Party on the Pavilion in the Bellaire Town Square! Sarah Grace, a student at Houston’s Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, is a blues, rock and soul artist. Feel free to bring your own beer/wine to sip on while enjoying her concert.
Astros Opening Day 2019 Block Party
Celebrate the Houston Astros’ opening weekend at a Block Party hosted by Lucky’s Pub and Lucky’s Lodge. All three of the Astros’ weekend games against the Oakland Athletics (on Friday, Saturday and Sunday) will be screened on a giant jumbotron, and the bar will be offering drink specials all day long, all weekend long.
WorldFest Houston Film Festival
The 52nd annual WorldFest Houston Film Festival kicks off on Friday with a screening of William, a coming-of-age fantasy-drama that follows the life of a young Neanderthal man who was cloned from ancient DNA. This showing is the first of many screenings during the 10-day festival, where more than 1,000 international filmmakers are expected to attend. Hope Farms Festival & Picnic
Celebrate an early Earth Day and the third anniversary of Hope Farms at this free Family Festival and Picnic on Saturday! The festival will include a full schedule of kid-friendly activities such as cooking and gardening classes, story time, arts and crafts and yoga. And don’t miss out on the Pancake Farm Breakfast, kicking off the event at 9 a.m.
Bayou Greenway Day
Experience the beauty of Brays Bayou Greenway during the fifth annual Bayou Greenway Day, a free outdoor festival at Mason Park. The event is a celebration of Houston’s parks and trails, and last year it drew more than 4,000 Houstonians.
Spring Book Sale
Find some new spring reads at the annual Bellaire City Library’s annual Spring Book Sale, happening in the library’s parking lot this Saturday. Hardbacks are only $1 and paperbacks are 50 cents. DVDs, CDs and specialty books will also be auctioned off.
The Grand Kids Festival
Visit Galveston for the 24th Annual Grand Kids Festival on Saturday, featuring non-stop performances and art activities in Galveston’s historic cultural arts district. One of the day’s highlights is a musical adaptation of The Snow Queen, presented by Missoula Children’s Theater.
10th Annual Doggy Party on the Plaza
Grab your pup and head over to CityCentre Houston on Saturday for the 10th Annual Doggy Party on the Plaza! Enjoy shopping, eating, games, a Doggy Costume contest and so much more. The event benefits Houston area rescues and showcases over 80 local businesses. You and your pooch won’t want to miss it!
