Event Roundup: What to Look Forward to This Weekend
Happy Friday! We’ve rounded up some fun events for you to enjoy around town this weekend. (As always, please check individual event websites for weather-related updates.)
Inaugural Nutcracker Market Spring Spectacular
It may not be the holiday season, but Houston Ballet’s Nutcracker Market has you covered nonetheless! Attend the inaugural Spring Spectacular this weekend for a one-stop shop for seasonal items, apparel, accessories, gourmet food and home décor. Like the Nutcracker Market held in November, the event will serve as a fundraiser for the Houston Ballet Foundation and its Academy.
Houston Art Car Parade Weekend
Gear up for an exciting weekend filled with events that all lead up to the oldest and largest parade of its kind, featuring over 250 mobile masterpieces! The parade starts on Saturday at 2 p.m., but you can also check out Friday night’s Legendary Art Car Ball or the Art Car After Party at Saint Arnold’s Brewery.
Bellaire Trolley Run
Get your morning run in this Saturday at the 24th Annual Bellaire Trolley Run! The race offers options to run one mile or a 5K and features a fun post-race party where participants are entered to win prizes such as Astros tickets.
West U Easter Spring Festival and Arbor Day
Celebrate the coming of spring at this annual West U festival with fun activities for the whole family. Kids can enjoy bounce houses, a giant slide and an inflatable obstacle course, and there will be plenty of photo opportunities at the colored-egg selfie stations, with street performances and of course, with the Easter Bunny! The West U Public Works Department urban forester will also be onsite giving away trees on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival
Enjoy an outdoor art exhibit, exciting culinary demonstrations and live music during the 14th annual Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival! This annual event serves as a fundraiser for education and outreach programs in the community, and each year it’s attended by more than 15,000 patrons.
Spring Fling Festival
Join the Nature Discovery Center for their Free Spring Fling Festival, where you can interact with live animals, participate in interactive nature stations and enjoy arts and crafts activities. This is a great opportunity to enjoy a day in the park with the family, while also learning about nature.
Evelyn’s BARK & Blessing of the Animals
Celebrate your pet companions this weekend at an exciting pair of events happening in Bellaire on Saturday afternoon. On the Southside of Bellaire Boulevard, Bellaire United Methodist Church invites members of all faiths for their annual “Blessing of the Animals,” which includes a service and an opportunity for pets to receive individual blessings from a pastor. Across the street, Evelyn’s Park is opening its green space to pets. The animals can sniff and mingle with other furry friends (while on a leash) and visit with pet experts from a number of different service organizations.
Green Mountain Energy Earth Day
Visit Discovery Green on Sunday for Green Mountain Energy Earth Day! Presented in partnership with Citizens’ Environmental Coalition, the event is designed to educate, inspire and encourage action. Learn about topics ranging from alternative energy to recycling methods and eco-fashion! You can also enjoy a special edition of Unplugged, an acoustic concert series on Sunday evenings. The April 14 lineup features Quiet Company, Annika Chambers, Handsomebeast, Minor League, The Glass, Leigh Sinclair and Wax Dream.
