Here are some fun happenings around town this weekend!
3rd Annual Rice Village Sing-Off
Rice Village District is bringing back their hit a cappella competition, The Sing Off, on Friday, 6-8 p.m. This year’s line-up will compete in a number of upbeat, holiday-themed songs in front of a judges panel for all to enjoy.
Election Day
Didn’t make it out to the polls during early voting for the runoff? Election Day takes place Saturday, and polls are open 7 a.m.–7 p.m so you still have time to cast your ballot. Click here to find the most convenient polling location for you.
Christmas on the Boulevard
This classic Christmas celebration takes place on Saturday at St. John the Divine and includes a live nativity followed by a Christmas concert featuring the SJD Chorale, ROCO Musicians and the SJD Youth Choristers. The event is free and family-friendly.
The Art of Holiday
Rice Village District presents Houston’s first installation of The Art of Holiday! The event brings together street artists, who will compete in teams to design a holiday-inspired mural in a timed art competition. DJ ILL-Set will provide tunes, and onsite food trucks offer bites while you cheer on the artists. East End Studio Gallery will also be onsite with an art market.
Deck the Halls Parade 2019
Deck the Halls Parade rolls 15 blocks through Westbury and includes participants from bands, sports teams, scouts, local businesses, churches, schools, and community organizations. There is a procession of creative art cars following the parade. This year's theme is all things Texan. Read more about the beloved neighborhood event here.
Carols on the Green: Celebrating the Season in Song
Discovery Green is hosting the second annual holiday showcase on Saturday evening, with performances from members of the Houston Grand Opera Chorus as well as more than 70 voices from the Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church Chapel Choice. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and picnics for an evening in the park!
Santa Hustle
Registration is still open for the 8th annual Santa Hustle 5K, Half Marathon and Kids Dash, happening in Galveston’s Moody Gardens on Sunday morning. Participants are encouraged to dress in Santa attire and stop at cookie and candy stations along the course to fuel their holiday cheer.
A Christmas Story Art Market
Shop Local Market is hosting its annual funky Christmas story art market at Karbach Brewing Co. on Sunday, 12-7 p.m. Enjoy a cold Karbach while browsing items from local artists and vendors. The event is free to attend, and pets are welcome!
