Art trail
Families explored the Spring Branch ISD Art Trail over Spring Break. The collection of framed murals, each inspired by a children’s book, are spread across about 30 schools in the district. The pieces stemmed from an idea shared by Stephanie Walton, an art teacher at Wilchester Elementary. Art teachers could choose any children’s book for inspiration, and then they worked with their students to create the mural in time for Spring Break, which was particularly good timing for families stuck at home in quarantine, as most of the murals could be viewed from inside one’s car. The Burke family – mom Kate and daughters Aubrey, 8 and Maris, 5 – made a scavenger hunt out of the art trail, visiting each of the murals and taking photos with each one. Pictured are Maris and Aubrey with the mural at Rummel Creek. For more, see "Spring Branch Art Trail Offers Colorful Quarantine Activity" by Pooja Salhotra.
