Event Roundup: What to Look Forward to This Weekend
Happy Friday! Check out these exciting events happening this weekend. As always, please monitor individual event websites for any Covid- or weather-related updates.
Join the Texian Army!
On Friday afternoon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site, kids can watch weapon demonstrations, participate in (wooden) musket drills, make (candy) bullet cartridges and see how soldiers lived during the Texas Revolution. This program costs $14 for members, $20 for non-members, and parents are free.
Movies at Market Square Park
Market Square Park will be showing Psycho on Friday night at 8:30 p.m. Bring a blanket and or lawn chairs. Food and non-alcoholic beverages are welcome, and beer and wine will be for sale on site.

Silambam Houston Presents: Sharing Stories Indian Dance, Theatre, & Flamenco
On Friday evening at 8:30 p.m. at Miller Outdoor Theatre, Silambam Houston presents an evening of cross-cultural dance and theatre for diverse audiences. This event is free and open to the public.
Friday Night Music at Betsy’s
This Friday at 6 p.m., enjoy a night with family and friends outside at Betsy’s listening to the Half Truths. Purchase dinner and drinks at Betsy’s and enjoy the show. This event is free and open to the public.
Second Saturday at Sawyer Yards
Spend Saturday afternoon from noon to 5 p.m. wandering through Sawyer Yards' six studio buildings to view a selection of painting, sculpture, photography and more. The event is free and open to the public.
Market at Sawyer Yards at Night
The Market at Sawyer Yards takes place on Art Alley on the Sawyer Yards campus and is open this Saturday evening from 6-10 p.m. This curated market hosts a mix of artist mediums available for purchase. The art market is free and open to the public.

The Diaz Music Institute Presents: Noche Caliente with Oscar Hernández
This evening of music at Miller Outdoor Theatre includes music and dance performances from professional and amateur artists with a focus on Hispanic heritage. The event starts at 8:30 p.m., is free, and open to the public.
Houston Restaurant Weeks 2021
Houston Restaurants Weeks runs through Labor Day weekend. Find the list of participating restaurants here. Each restaurant will donate a portion of their funds to the Houston Food Bank.
Red Bull BC One
Houston breakers, more commonly known as break-dancers, will compete on Saturday for a chance to represent Houston at the Red Bull BC One World Final. Tickets are sold out, but streams of the competition will be available 24 hours after the event via VOD on the Red Bull BC One YouTube, Facebook, and Red Bull TV channels.
Skeeters vs. Isotopes
On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the Skeeters face the Albuquerque Isotopes at Constellation Field. On Friday, there’ll be post-game fireworks plus live music from The Spazmatics! Admission to the concert is included with game ticket. Highlights for Sunday’s game includes the opportunity for kids ot run the bases post-game. Additionally, as part of “Dog Days of Summer,” dogs are invited to Sunday’s game.
DASH vs. Spirit
On Friday, the Houston DASH face the Washington Spirit at BBVA Stadium.
Dynamo vs. Rapids
On Saturday, the Houston Dynamo face the Colorado Rapids at BBVA Stadium.
