Supporters of Writers in the Schools (WITS) celebrated at the “Writing the Future” garden party held at Evelyn’s Park. The event featured Houston Poet Laureate Emanuelee "Outspoken" Bean, performances by members of the youth slam team Meta-Four Houston, and an address by the organization's new executive director, Angela Flowers. The event included custom “insta-poems” from Houston poets and a silent auction. Funds raised will support K-12 students through creative-writing programs. See witshouston.org.
