Event Roundup: What to Look Forward to This Weekend
Summer is in full swing, and it’s time to celebrate! This first weekend of June is chock full of fun events around town. Here are some highlights:
Houston Dash vs. Orlando Pride
The Houston Dash will host the Orlando Pride at PNC Stadium on Friday. The game begins at 7:30 p.m., and they will host a pregame ceremony beforehand in celebration of Rachel Daly’s 100 NWSL regular season appearances for the team. Tickets start at $7.
Party on the Pavilion
Spend your Friday night at Bellaire Town Square soaking in the smooth R&B sounds of Grady Gaines' Texas Upsetters at a free, outdoor concert hosted by PATRONS for Bellaire Parks and the City of Bellaire. Enjoy food from the Bellaire Broiler Burger Food Truck. Personal coolers are also permitted. The event will run from 7 p.m.-9 p.m.
Children’s Museum Fun Summer Vibes Kickoff
Celebrate the start of summer with a series of fun activities, live demonstrations, and great performances to be enjoyed by the whole family. Head to the Children’s Museum this Saturday for some summer fun! The Museum is open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and admission is $15.
Busy Bees on Buffalo Bayou
Learn all about bees with the help of Robby Robinson, BBP’s Field Operations Manager, who has nearly 50 years of experience beekeeping, and get the chance to watch bees up close with an observatory beehive. There will be three events throughout the summer hosted at Buffalo Bayou Park, the first of which is this Saturday from 9 a.m.-11 a.m., featuring bee-themed crafts led by Laura Hernandez with Laurenzo Early Childhood Center. The event is free.
Go Bananas! at Houston Botanic Garden
Celebrate and learn about the world’s most popular tropical fruit, the banana, on Saturday at the Houston Botanic Garden. There will be a variety of different events for the entire family to enjoy including crafts, tastings, and informational presentations. The festival will last all day, from 10 a.m.to 6 p.m. Tickets are $15/adult and $10/child or student with valid ID.
2022 Houston Oyster & Seafest
Head to Water Works at Buffalo Bayou Park on Saturday for the 2022 Houston Oyster & Seafest benefitting the Oyster Shell Recycling Program. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., enjoy oysters and seafood from Houston restaurants alongside a series of beer, wine, and vodka bars. The event will also include live music by Thunderado and Kung-Fuze, educational exhibits, and more. Tickets start at $35.
The Menil Collection’s 35th Birthday Party
Celebrate the Menil Collection’s 35th birthday on Saturday! Festivities will begin at 4 p.m. with live music by Keyun and the Zydeco Masters, as well as refreshments and dessert on the Menil’s front lawn. At 5 p.m., join Menil curators inside the museum's galleries for short talks on the collection. The event is free.
Official Pride Market x Karbach Brewing
On Sunday, head to Karbach Brewing Co. from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. to celebrate Pride with drag queens, over 25 Food Trucks, fabulous performances, giveaways, games, and contests. Expect plenty of food, beer, and fun. The event is free to the public with RSVP.
