Editor's Note - November 2022
Recently, I was shopping with a friend. We were hoping to score those hard-to-find, trendy fanny packs. We were excited to spot the coveted bag – but the only color available was maroon. As a lifelong Longhorn, I refused to buy it. My friend (who isn’t a sports fan) was in disbelief. Is that really a thing? she asked. Absolutely, I said. I know most of our readers would agree that colors like burnt orange or maroon can carry a deeper significance. And for some readers, the pride and passion for their college football team is a family affair. This month, you’ll meet some of these families, diehard fans who pass on a love for their teams through the generations. And while some families focus on football through the fall, others are focused on the turkey. Seema Mir and her family have woven together traditional Turkey Day dishes with Pakistani and Afghan flavors to make a beautiful, delicious meal. This month, whether your mind is on football or feasting, wishing you happy memories with family and friends. (And I can’t help it: Hook ’em.) [email protected]
