West U Party on the Patio Concert series: The Fab 5
This Friday, the Fab 5, a Beatles and ’60s tribute band, will be performing at the West U Party on the Patio Concert Series, 7-9 p.m.! Free for West U residents.
Big Daddy Movie Screening at Urban South HTX Brewery
Kick off Father’s Day weekend by coming down to Urban South HTX Brewery on Friday for a screening of Big Daddy. This comedy/drama film featuring Adam Sandler is PG-13. The event is kid- and pet-friendly. Admission is free and the film will begin at 7 p.m.
NobleMotion Dance presents Desert Shelter at Post Houston
NobleMotion Dance will be performing at the Post Houston this Friday at 8 p.m. The show is an Interdisciplinary exploration of the journey that Mexican migrants faced when making their treks to American soil. The show is a study of the past actualized into performance art and has the intent of informing viewers of what struggles were like during this journey. NobleMotion Dance will be accompanied by J.E. Hernandez’ composition, which was scored for a string sextet! Admission is free but you will need to reserve a spot here.
Juneteenth at Miller: A Celebration of Freedom
Enjoy two nights of extraordinary performances honoring several great artists at the Miller Outdoor Theatre. This concert will feature a national special guest and music from Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Prince, and more! Admission is free and performances run on Friday and Saturday both starting at 8:15pm.
Houston Astros vs. Cincinnati Reds at Minute Maid Park
The Houston Astros will play in a series against the Cincinnati Reds this weekend at Minute Maid Park, Friday at 7:10 p.m., Saturday at 3:10 p.m., and Sunday, 1:10 p.m.
Juneteenth Music Festival at Emancipation Park
Emancipation Park will host their annual Juneteenth Music Festival on Saturday. The concerts kicks off with gospel artist V Michael McKay, followed by Step Rideau, the R&B icons Lakeside, and The SOS Band. The concert is free and doors open at 2 p.m. There will also be various vendors offering merchandise and food trucks.
Juneteenth Celebration at the Children’s Museum Houston
Head over to the Children’s Museum Houston for a three-day Juneteenth celebration featuring live poetry and live performances! This event runs from Saturday through Monday. Make sure to check the schedule for more information on specific activities/performances happening throughout the weekend. All ages are welcome; find tickets for general admission here.
Galveston Juneteenth Parade & Picnic
Come down to Galveston on Saturday for their annual Juneteenth Parade and Picnic to celebrate the holiday in its birthplace. The parade starts at 26th and Avenue H and ends at 41st and Avenue H. The picnic will subsequently follow at Wright Cuney Park. The parade is from 1-2 p.m., while the picnic starts at 2 p.m. and lasts till 5 p.m. This event is free and open to all ages.
Father’s Day at Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens
Celebrate Father’s Day at Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens surrounded by nature, art, and music. No reservations necessary. Dads receive free admission. The Father's Day fun takes place on Sunday, 1-5 p.m.
