Nicki Polocheck (pictured) is the first Memorial High School (MHS) girls basketball player to commit to a D1 college program since 2005. After she graduates from MHS in 2024, Nicki will attend the University of California San Diego where she will join the women’s basketball team. She began playing basketball at a young age with Spring Branch-Memorial Sports Association (SBMSA) and continued at Spring Branch Middle School and Memorial High School, as well as playing for two AAU club teams. In addition to basketball, Nicki has also been a competitive athlete in softball, soccer, swimming, volleyball, and lacrosse. During her time with MHS basketball, Nicki has scored more than 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds, and the team made a serious run for the state championship, making it to the fourth round of playoffs which was a record for both the school and district. Nicki’s sister, Delaney, is a sophomore at the University of Southern California, and their parents Jeanne and Layne are excited to have both girls on the same coast.
