Event Roundup: What to Look Forward to This Weekend

Happy Friday! Here are some happenings going on this weekend: 

International Holocaust Remembrance Day at Holocaust Museum Houston  
Saturday, January 27 is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Holocaust Museum Houston admission is free on this day every year so that all may come remember the victims of the Holocaust and honor the survivors’ legacy. The museum is open to all, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

As we mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we revisit this powerful 2019 article featuring local Holocaust survivors, Anna Steinberger, Ruth Steinfeld, and Bill Orlin. Anna Steinberger passed away last month at age 96. We honor her memory by continuing to share her story, and the stories of other local survivors.

Houston Cougars vs. Kansas State 
The Coogs face the Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday, 11 a.m. at Fertitta Center. Tickets start at $20. 

Galveston Museum Day and Galveston Restaurant Week
This Saturday and Sunday, 12+ of Galveston Island’s most prominent museums and destinations offer special rates or are free to visit. Hours and admission varies by museum and location. Bellaire Open Air Valentine Market  
Shop for your valentine while supporting local artisans and food vendors at Evelyn's Park at the Bellaire Open Air Market on Sunday, 12-4 p.m. Free. 

Finding Light Movie Screening at Holocaust Museum Houston 
On Sunday, 6:30-8:30 p.m., join Holocaust Museum Houston to commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day to illuminate the remarkable story of Holocaust survivor, Mrs. Naomi Warren, in Finding Light, which takes the audience on a journey that is simultaneously situated in the past while making relevant connections to the present through the lens of dance. The film screening will be followed by a Q&A with Paul Michael Bloodgood, film director, Benjamin Warren, Mrs. Warren’s son, and Stephen Mills, choreographer of Light / The Holocaust & Humanity Project and artistic director of Ballet Austin. Limited tickets, first-come-first-serve basis. Free with RSVP.

Green Mountain Energy Ice: Last Chance  
This weekend is the last chance to ice skate around the rink downtown before it closes on Sunday. Admission: $17 (plus tax), skate rental included.
