AFC Divisional: Houston Texans vs. Kansas City Chiefs Texans

The Cookout was created to bring people together for a day of fun in honor of MLK Day, celebrating Dr. King's legacy of unity, service, and community day. The Cookout benefits The Beacon, an organization dedicated to helping individuals experiencing homelessness in Houston. Look forward to a lively pop-up market featuring local vendors and small businesses, an epic DJ battle where talented performers go head-to-head, plus delicious food, beer, and good vibes.

The Black Heritage Society's 47th Annual MLK Parade

The Black Heritage Society's 47th Annual MLK Parade takes place Mon., Jan. 20, 10 a.m. in downtown Houston. The parade is set to begin at Lamar and Smith Street. Immediately following, the MLK Festival will take place at Hermann Park Square in front of City Hall at 900 Smith St. The festival (until 4 p.m.) will feature live musical performances, kid-friendly activities, art and craft vendors, food, and more.
MLK Grande Parade Midtown Houston 2025

The MLK Grande Parade will be held in Midtown starting at San Jacinto and Elgin St. The parade's theme is "Unity Through Diversity" and will feature culturally diverse performance groups from across the nation. Join in person or watch live on CW 39-Houston.

While Holocaust Museum Houston is closed on Mondays, the museum galleries will be open on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. On this annual commemoration, the museum remembers and honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his leadership.

Schedule includes: 11 a.m. – “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop,” delivered on April 3, 1968 at Mason Temple, Memphis, TN (43:06 minutes); 1 p.m. – “Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence,” delivered on April 4, 1967 at Riverside Church, New York City, NY (56:19 minutes); 3 p.m. – “The Other America,” delivered on April 14, 1967 at Stanford University, CA (47:54 minutes); 5 p.m. – “I Have a Dream,” delivered on August 28, 1963 at the Lincoln Memorial, Washington, D.C. (17:50 minutes)
