Happy Halloween! Places all across Houston are celebrating spooky season today and tomorrow, followed by Día de los Muertos celebrations on Sunday. Have a spook-tacular weekend!

Get ready to do the monster mash and howl with delight as the Children’s Museum closes out Halloween with a BOO-m! Admission is free during Free Family Night, from 5 to 8 p.m. Activities include: trick-or-treating at five candy stations throughout the Museum, hands-on “slime time” fun ($9.95 each), a meet and greet with Disney Villains, dancing with DJ Beetlejuice, face painting, and spooky ghost rings that will be floating through the gallery.

CityCentre hosts its 13th Annual Halloween Trick-or-Treat. Dress in costume and trick-or-treat at favorite stores followed by spooky tunes and a Halloween performance in The Plaza.

Participating merchants will be identified with balloons. Don’t forget to bring your own bucket or bag to take part in this festive event!

Head to Discovery Green for a Dia de Los Muertos celebration this Sunday. It begins with a sacred procession led by Danza Azteca Macuilxochitl, followed by the Catrín y Catrinas Parade—featuring a costume contest judged by local leaders and you. Bring a photo or keepsake* to add to a stunning community ofrenda created by artist Angel Quesada. (*Note: Please bring copies of photos. Do not bring any originals.) At sunset there will be a concert by the Segundo Barrio Children’s Chorus. Close the night with La Musical Ofrenda, a high-energy tribute concert curated by Nick Gaitan and spotlighting some of Houston’s finest musicians, honoring legendary artists from across Texas.

Gather your family for a special celebration of Día de los Muertos at the Houston Zoo. Stroll through the Zoo and enjoy glowing decorations, festive photo ops, and a chance to see La Catrina, one of the most recognizable symbols of the Día de los Muertos holiday. At the heart of the event is a traditional ofrenda (altar) created to honor animals who are no longer with us. Families are invited to bring a photo of a cherished animal to add to the altar. Stop by the craft station, where kids and adults alike can draw or create artwork of their favorite animal to include. The Zoo will be open for extended hours from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., with last entry at 8 p.m.

Cosmic Howl is Meow Wolf Houston’s immersive 21+ Halloween party – part music festival, part sideshow, part late-night art adventure. This event will have the immersive art worlds of Meow Wolf – explore the full exhibit while the night unfolds around you, plus live performances, including DJ sets, a full concert, and roaming sideshow acts, not just a playlist. DJ Brandon Airlines spins from 8-11:30 p.m. in the Bailiwick; Houston’s wild surf-punk legends Swimwear Department plays live 10-11 p.m., and Kaleidoscope sideshow performers roam 8–10 p.m., adding circus-chaos energy to the art.
