Houston Baptist University is planning to host its biannual Spirit of Excellence Gala Nov. 1 at the Royal Sonesta Houston. Chairs Beth and Greg Looser and underwriting chairs Jennifer and Tadd Tellepsen invite gala attendees to support the gala’s mission to develop HBU’s Center for Law & Liberty. Columnist, author and former presidential speechwriter Peggy Noonan will deliver the keynote address. The 2016 Spirit of Excellence Award, HBU’s highest tribute, will be given to Elizabeth and John W. Gibson Jr. and Sue and Robert Sloan for promoting HBU. Mary Ann Belin and Linda Higginbotham will receive the President’s Award for their decades of support. Dr. Stewart Morris Sr. will receive the inaugural Founders Medal.
