I’ve been taking it day by day lately, dreaming of the thousands of miles I have run, hundreds of miles I have swum, dozens of steaks I have stolen, many pantry raids, countless trash snacks and that one time I got kicked out of doggie obedience school. I recently turned 12, and my whole family and I all wore party hats and ate cupcakes from Ooh La La. I probably won’t have another birthday to celebrate as my heart is failing and the good days are getting slim. I’ve done my part being the gentlest giant to my much younger siblings and a best friend to their mother. I love teaching everyone the importance of loyalty and what unconditional love really means.
