Heat from the mound

Nick Puig, 10, pitches for Bellaire Little League’s Bats team, in the Minors division. A fourth grader at Horn Elementary, Puig has played baseball each spring and fall season since he was 3 years old. He has also played for summer tournament teams. Pitcher is his favorite position, but he also plays catcher, first base, center field and shortstop. Having fun is most important to Puig, who says that “a team that has fun together, wins together.” His dream is to play college baseball or pitch for the Houston Astros. But, if that doesn’t work out, then he can fall back on his secondary plan of attending either Stanford or MIT.
