(From left): Liam Faigen, Hannah Golub and Alex Stout loved the production of "The Little Mermaid," the all-school musical in April 2016.
Every year Emery puts on three amazing theater productions. There is a high school play, a high school musical and an all-school musical. This year the high school play was called “The 39 Steps.” The all-school musical planned for the spring is “Fiddler on the Roof.” The theater team is currently working on the high school musical, “It Shoulda Been You.”
The director of our plays is Jennifer Bauer-Conley Walker. Our musical director is Kathy Elder. They are both amazing at what they do. Auditions for “It Shoulda Been You” were held a couple of weeks ago, and practices have already begun. “It Shoulda Been You” is about two characters, Rebecca Steinberg and Brian Howard’s wedding. Rebecca’s sister, Jenny, is the wedding planner. Jenny and Rebecca are part of a Jewish family. Jenny gets drunk one night and accidentally calls Rebecca's ex-boyfriend, Marty. Marty is determined to ruin the wedding. Brian’s mom, Georgette, is overprotective of her son and doesn't want him to get married. Turns out both Rebecca and Brian are hiding a huge secret.
Come watch the show to find out what the secret is and how each family reacts to the big news. Junior Sofia Heyl plays Jenny Steinberg and junior Carly Tiras plays Rebecca Steinberg. Brian Howard is played by freshman Noah Pact. This show has an extremely talented cast and I highly encourage everyone to come out and watch it.
