It Can Wait: Texting Ban in Texas

Texas’ first ban on handheld communication by motorists was signed on Tuesday, meaning that drivers may not use a phone to read, write or send a text, email, etc. while driving. 

This ban is a step toward what the Berry family has been fighting for; they have been working to educate others about the dangers of distracted driving through their movement called One Life is Enough. 

"We're thrilled that the Texas Legislature and Governor Abbott finally passed this important bill. House Bill 62, which bans texting while driving, is not only an important step to show Texas' commitment to creating safer roads but it's also an important message, which says that texts and social media can wait until you aren't behind the wheel,” said Simone Berry. “This bill will save lives and that is what matters the most.”
