In honor of Mom
Wilchester Elementary first-grade friends and rivals (pictured) wore pink socks to honor a teammate’s mom who fought and beat breast cancer. The SBMSA freshman flag football Steelers and Packers all play football in each other’s front yards after school, so they couldn’t wait to play a real game with their teams and celebrate together afterward. Mom and survivor Cathy Hale was grateful for the boys’ thoughtfulness. “This has absolutely made my day,” she said. The Steelers and Packers are (bottom row, from left) Tripp Clarke, Wyatt Robertson, Austin Swantkowski, Jackson Dierenger, Westin Sharp, George Hamilton, Carter Smith, Derek Rubio, Jay Squillante, Jackson Whisler, Nolan Strobel, Will Long, Tommy Amis, Parker Miller, Brooks Bown, Henry Nogueira, Jackson Montalbo, Hayden Janicek, John McKemie, Nate Long, Ben Dimitry, Hank Hale, Eli Box and Aiden Bailey, plus (top row, from left) first-grade teacher Rebecca Janes and health/fitness coach Anne Dailey.
