Houston Christian’s NHS Welcomes New Members

This past Wednesday, Jan. 24, Houston Christian hosted the annual induction ceremony for the newest members of its National Honor Society Chapter.

Faculty members first screened the new inductees, evaluating their GPA, extracurricular activities and character. Being chosen to become an NHS member is a high honor, and these individuals are believed to be great leaders on campus.

The members of the National Honors Society do a great deal for the HC community. They tutor fellow students, run concessions at sporting events, take care of the recycling on campus and more.

NHS members also serve others who are not a part of the Houston Christian community. For example, members will go to the Houston Food Bank and sort books to be sent to libraries in developing countries around the world. They also serve at local community centers, enriching all who benefit from these centers. These new members will have the opportunity to learn about honor, scholarship, leadership and service through their NHS membership.

Katherine Kovach, the president of the National Honor Society, took the time to address the new members, describing their membership in NHS as “a journey that will continue for the rest of your high school career.” As a fellow NHS officer, we are looking forward to seeing the amazing things the new members will do and what they will add to our chapter!
