Students represented more than 70 cultures during British International School of Houston's International Day.
Picture this: over 70 cultures packed into a brightly lit room on the grounds of British International School of Houston for one special day. This day is known as International Day and its ceremony takes place on Oct. 26 of each year. Booths for countries indigenous to the British School’s make-up, are filled with traditional food, dress and other items found specifically in the country displayed. The day is magical and unforgettable for both the students and faculty alike. From the tasting of food like Belgian waffles and Eastern Indian Chutney to interacting in activities like Venezuelan dancing, good times are had by all.
BISH’s International Day, besides providing great food, amazing stories, and entertaining activities, connects cultures that are far apart geographically by celebrating their uniqueness. Students who are from one of the 70+ countries can be seen at the booths guiding visitors on a journey of their birthplace. At BISH, each culture is celebrated for their true identities and portrayed as memorable locations for all to visit. British International School of Houston venerates its multicultural identity and wishes for everyone to join in on all it has to offer. BISH invites all people of the greater Houston area to come to International Day next 2019 semester.
