Event Roundup: What to Do this Holiday Weekend

Happy Christmas weekend! Here are some festive, family-friendly events going on this weekend.
Visit Rice Village to enjoy snow by the Christmas tree this Friday-Saturday, 6-8 p.m.
Toyota Center is welcoming back Trans-Siberian Orchestra for two shows on Dec. 21. This marks the 20th consecutive year of the rock band's winter tour. TSO is known for their elaborate, multi-sensory concerts, which feature a light show, lasers, special effects, and video screens.
Magical Winter Lights, a lantern festival with themed sections such as The Kingdom, The Village, The Dino, The East, Houston, The Globe, and the festival’s newest sections: The Ice and The Sea, takes place at Gulf Greyhound Park. The festival is open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and is open Sun.-Thurs., 5-10 p.m. and Fri-Sat., 5-11 p.m.
Moody Gardens hosts tons of holiday fun including a mile-long trail with more than one million lights and lighted scenes, plus an outdoor skating rink, live entertainment and more. Both Festival of Lights and Ice Land exhibits are open Christmas Eve and Day; on Dec. 24-25, Ice Land is open 12-10 p.m. and Festival of Lights is open 6-10 p.m.

Skate around Discovery Green. The ICE is open on Christmas Eve, 11 a.m.-7 p.m., and Christmas Day, 1-7 p.m.
Christmas Village at Bayou Bend
Discover an immersive Christmas experience at beautiful Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens. The Christmas Village isn’t open on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day but this is a fun event to check out with family while they’re in town for the holidays.
Explore animal-themed light displays around the Zoo. Zoo Lights is closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day but if you have family in town, this is a fun, family-friendly event for other days during the holidays.
