Strut HTX Fashion Show
Started by an 18-year-old fashion designer, Strut HTX began as a way to help young designers show off their work while simultaneously helping the community. The organization focuses on fashion-forward fundraisers with all proceeds going towards purchasing personal hygiene products for lower income schools. This weekend, join Strut HTX for a full day of fashion shows, featuring kids fashion, local boutiques and the talent of student designers. All proceeds will go towards purchasing personal hygiene items for schools.
Royals Doggie Day at MFAH
Bring your pup to The Brown Foundation, Inc. Plaza at the MFAH for a day of regal entertainment! Inspired by the canines in the paintings on view in “Tudors to Windsors: British Royal Portraits from Holbein to Warhol,” this free event offers dog owners a chance to show off their pets’ majestic sides for a “Most-Regal” dog-costume competition. The event also features a royal “pawrade” open to all, a doggie portrait photo booth and more. Vendors including BarkdayPlanner and Three Dogs Bakery will also be onsite, while Big Boss Bites and Coffee-Q will be offering refreshments.
Sawyer Yards’ Second Saturday
Sawyer Yards, one of the largest working artist communities in the country, opens its studios to the public every second Saturday of the month, offering visitors a chance to spend an afternoon wandering around six different studios free of charge. Visitors can meet the artists while discovering an extensive collection of painting, sculpture, jewelry, photography, clothing, textiles, printmaking, mixed media and more.
The Sale, The Ultimate Shopping Experience
This weekend, Houston Tri Delta Alumnae present the ultimate shopping experience, with a one-stop shop for Houston’s finest jewelry, décor and clothing all at a discount. Held at Bayou City Event Center, the shopping extravaganza starts on Saturday morning with champagne shopping and is followed by Sunday Funday, a panel with some of Houston’s most influential ladies. The proceeds from the event will help fund childhood cancer research at MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.
