Good morning, Rummel Creek
Every morning, Rummel Creek Elementary School fifth graders start the day by broadcasting school news and announcements in a 10-minute broadcast. The KRCE program, led by librarian Karen Harrell, started in 2003 and has grown since then. Students decide on the segments and the format; they do their own research and writing and include video clips and graphics. Any fifth grader can participate, and the current crew trains the crew that follows. The same “Crew Goodbye” that began with the first crew continues today: silly hats for a crew’s final sign-off. Pictured are crew members (standing, from left) Gabriel Onyiego, Madeline McKnight, Ally Johnson, Izzy Pham, Luke Connally, Collin Soo; (seated, from left) Cooper Avila, Caden Couch, Carter Maedgen and Ulrik Marquez. Not pictured: Brad Zindler.
