Event Roundup: What to Look Forward to This Weekend
Happy Friday! Here are some fun happenings around town:
Oktoberfest
Put on your Lederhosen and Dirndls and enjoy a variety of German and craft beer, live entertainment, polka music, a stein race, barrel roll, brat toss, beer pong and cornhole tournaments and more, Friday and Saturday. The festival takes place at the Water Works at Buffalo Bayou.
Galveston Island Shrimp Festival
Foodies will flock to Galveston this Friday and Saturday for this annual festival including shrimp gump, live music, dancing and more.
Dewberry Farm Fall Festival
Dewberry Farm’s Fall Festival opens this Saturday and continues on weekends through Nov. 11. Look forward to fun, family-friendly fall attractions including a Pumpkin Patch, Corn Maze, live entertainment, fireworks show, farm playground, barnyard, a BierGarten for the adults and more.
Houston Weird Homes Tour
The fourth annual Weird Homes Tour in Houston will feature seven unique homes across town. Tour these creative homes and meet their owners on Saturday. The tour is self-paced and self-driven so you can tour the homes in whichever order you’d like. Ten percent of the ticket proceeds will go towards New Hope Housing and their fight for affordable housing.
Viet Cultural Festival
Immerse yourself in Vietnamese cultural at NRG Center on Saturday. Enjoy games, cultural activities, performances, food, a lantern contest, a traditional children’s dress contest, and more.
Family Movie Night: Inside Out
Levy Park’s Family Movie Night sponsored by Texas Children’s Hospital on Friday is the heart-warming animated film, Inside Out. Represent your favorite character by wearing their characteristic color from head to toe.
Level: Rooftop Silent Disco
In this 21+ event, the rooftop of the GreenStreet Garage at 1320 Fannin Street will transform into Downtown Houston’s largest - and quietest - dance floor for one night only. Attendees will be given special headphones, which they can use to tune into one of three channels broadcasting music spun live. The evening will also feature immersive art installations from Fifth World Collective, light bites from Umbrella Fellas and an illuminated lounge for partiers to rest with a view of the Downtown skyline. The event is free to attend (registration is required.
Astros Postseason Kickoff Party
Join on Sunday starting at 2 p.m. for the official Astros Postseason Kickoff at Karbach Brewing Co. Cheer on the ‘Stros as they take on the Los Angeles Angels in the final game of the regular season. After the game, enjoy a concert from Orquesta Mi Rumba, courtesy of the Puerto Rican & Cuban Festival. Fans can also enjoy Karbachtoberfest events including wiener dog racing and stein hoisting.
