Looking Up: An Anthology to Support Houston's Homeless

Creativity is still alive in the midst of COVID-19. There are many ways creativity can be used to help the community during these times. Two of my friends and I came up with an idea that bound our love for writing and art to a current cause in the Houston area.

At British International School of Houston, we will be hosting an art and writing competition to make an anthology that will be sold to benefit Healthcare for the Homeless Houston (HHH), a non-profit organization serving Houston’s homeless population. The anthology will be titled “Looking Up,” representing hope during this time of need. The entries from both the art and writing sectors will encapsulate a heartfelt moment that can inspire others.

At this time, every person around the world is challenged in some way. One of the most vulnerable communities is the homeless population. Proper healthcare services are not available, which causes a lack of physical and mental well-being among homeless individuals.

My friends want to support HHH because of its mission of providing sufficient care to homeless people in Houston. Additionally, we believe that the HHH’s motif of “Hope” is inspiring and connects well with the anthology’s purpose. We want to help our Houston community by spreading hope.

Upon completion, the anthology will be sold in digital and hard-copy format. We will use Kindle Direct Publishing, and all purchases can be made through the site. We would love for all of the Houston community to support HHH. Anthology sales will be announced after all entries have been reviewed and published.
