Firefighters

Writer Annie McQueen was touched by the lengths Houston Fire Station 78 went to help rescue a kitten. Pictured: Cash McQueen, Lila McQueen and Georgia McQueen with firefighters from Fire Station 78.

Buzz writer Annie McQueen took her kids to ride bikes around a Memorial-area track when she heard a faint meow. She discovered there was a trapped kitten inside a narrow cleanout pipe on the side of the street. She returned with cat food, but the kitten was too far back. Ultimately, she posted on a local Facebook group and shared the intersection to get some help. A neighbor tagged Laura Elizabeth Stein – who works for the Houston Professional Fire Fighters Association. Firefighters, after much effort, freed the kitten. Pictured are Cash, Lila and Georgia McQueen with firefighters from Fire Station 78. Read more details from Annie’s perspective; see “Houston Fire Department Saves a Kitten.”
