More than 70 proud families participated in the West University 2020 High School Seniors Parade, organized by Lori Gobillot and Kathleen Holt. Both have daughters who recently graduated from St. John’s School and thought the parade would be a fun way to celebrate all the 77005 graduates. The parade route was lined with neighbors, cyclists and walkers cheering on the grads as they rolled along University Boulevard through the heart of West U. A West U fire truck led the way, followed by seniors waving from windows and sunroofs. Individuals who helped the project come together included West U city manager Dave Beach, Captain Damien Niko and the West U Police, the West U Fire Department, Cecile Schutter and the Rotary Club of West U, plus Ann Malcolm, Carolyn Betti and Sarah Cunningham. Parade participants donated funds to the Rotary Club of West U to support their scholarship program. Pictured is St. Agnes grad Kaitlynn Caroll, who’s off to Texas A&M University.
