Bayou City Clay Crawl
ClayHouston’s Bayou City Clay Crawl returns for its fourth annual event, providing the public with a one-of-a-kind opportunity to tour studios and to discover pieces created by ClayHouston member artists in time for holiday shopping.
The 2020 crawl will feature 35-plus artists participating in five studios/locations throughout the Heights, offering unique pieces ranging from traditional pottery to large-scale sculptures as well as installations and performance art.
This year, the event is partnering with Empty Bowls Houston, an international grassroots effort by artists and craftspeople to feed the hungry in their local communities which is implemented locally to benefit Houston Food Bank. Empty Bowls Houston will have tables set-up at multiple studio locations on the crawl where visitors can choose from an assortment of handmade bowls available for a minimum donation of $25. 100% of Empty Bowls Houston sales go directly to Houston Food Bank.
The Bayou City Clay Crawl is free, and visitors can start in any location. All studios are located in the Heights. Participating studios will feature resident artists as well as guest artists and Empty Bowls Houston.
As a precaution due to COVID-19, the clay crawl artists will be set-up outdoors and all attendees and participants are required to wear masks. The Bayou City Clay Crawl will also be hosted as a virtual studio tour with links to artists’ websites for online shopping.
