After a disappointing start to the football season, the Spring Branch-Memorial Sports Association (SBMSA) varsity-tackle Texans (pictured) turned the corner and ended up winning the Tully Bowl. The Texans defeated the Mustangs 16-12 with a combination of aggressive offense and strong defense. Winning the championship was the result of hard work and overcoming a losing record during the first half of the regular season. Instead of being discouraged by their early losses, the boys learned from defeat and ended up being a stronger team. The winning Texans are (top row, from left) Westin Killion, Lane Rivers, Luke Hall, Matthew Valdes, Connor Treadway, coach David Covington, John Schoenfield, coach Trey Schoenfield, Colin Shankleton, coach Lanny Lawrence, Jack Covington, coach Peter Vescovo, Eli Dominguez, Jackson Seel, coach Mike Lasseigne, Jack Lasseigne, Alejandro Fonseca, Lanny Lawrence, Jackson James, (bottom row, from left) Conner Drone, Cayden Cribbs, Bennett Vescovo, Austin Pettit, Russ Wiseman, and Kyle Guillory; not pictured: coaches Nacho Fonseca and Chase Cribbs.
