A day of service
A day off from school turned out to be a memorable one for West University Elementary School (WUES) students Kinsey Magers, Sofia Thompson, Charlotte Thompson, Caroline Cozart, Zara Alousi, Jigs Albans, and Andi Mills (pictured, clockwise from left). They joined more than 500 other WUES students, staff, and families for the school’s second annual Day of Service. Led by event co-chairs Hollee Mize and Lacey Carver, WUES’s vice president of service Allison Stasney, garden beautification lead Caroline Walter, and recycling co-chairs Julie Fehl and Lindsay Gregory, volunteers helped clean up around the school, painted trash cans and bike racks, and helped weed and plant new items in the garden. They also completed projects for seven nonprofits: BEAR…BE A Resource for CPS Kids, Operation Gratitude, Kids’ Meals Houston, SEARCH Homeless Services, SEARCH’s House of Tiny Treasurers, and Bayou City Blessings in a Backpack.
