Celebrity Chef Martin Yan Celebrates The Year of the Rabbit with Cooking Class
Legendary television icon, Chef Martin Yan, will host a cooking class to celebrate the Chinese New Year and Year of the Rabbit at Central Market's cooking school. The celebratory meal designed by Yan will introduce dishes including roasted chicken salad with seasonal fruits, seafood in a golden cup, celebration sweet and sour fish and wok-tossed longevity noodles. Yan will demonstrate how to prepare these significant dishes along with showcasing his mastery of knife skills and depth of Chinese cooking and culture. A meal and wine pairings are included in the class.
Chef Yan has authored a library of more than 30 titles, among which include the award-winning, Martin Yan’s Feast and Martin Yan’s Chinatown, which includes an introduction by Julia Child. In 1978, Chef Yan launched the new classic Yan Can Cook TV series, infusing cooking lessons with his brand of humor and skill. Generations of audiences have grown up watching and learning the joy and wonders of Chinese and Asian cuisines.
Chef Yan is also a successful restaurateur. His latest ventures are M.Y. Asia in Las Vegas and M.Y. China in the heart of San Francisco’s Chinatown.
The Chinese New Year begins on Sunday, January 22. This year will be known as the Year of the Rabbit according to the Chinese zodiac -- part of a 12-year cycle celebrating animals based on an ancient Chinese legend.
