Artist Talk: Robert Gober, Reflections on 'The Meat Wagon'
Robert Gober takes us on a reflective journey back to the iconic exhibition, "The Meat Wagon," on view at the Menil Collection in 2005-2006. "The Meat Wagon" was curated by Matthew Drutt in collaboration with Robert Gober and included twenty objects by Gober installed alongside forty works from the museum’s collection.
Gober selected pieces from the Menil’s permanent collection over years of research and exploration. Celebrated for his thought-provoking and often enigmatic art, Gober will delve into the inspiration, creative process, and the profound themes that surrounded this groundbreaking exhibition, including the afterlife of historical surrealism, spirituality, race, and the everyday object.
