At 9 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 10 yearbook students along with their advisor, Kelli Touchstone, drove to Crosby High School to attend the Walsworth Publishing-sponsored Yearbook Workshop. This, however, was not the first time the 2014-2015 yearbook staffers met to discuss the upcoming year.
Beginning in May, the editors created a Pinterest board dedicated to ideas for the new yearbook. The editors also met soon after creating the board to discuss the theme. They decided that an appropriate theme would be “Unfiltered.” This symbolized the popular Instagram jargon and the ability for students to express themselves, unfiltered.
When the students got to the workshop, they learned many things, took classes and had fun bonding with one another. They also designed the cover for the yearbook. Senior and Editor-in-Chief Schlea Thomas said that “we were able to bond while brainstorming new and creative ideas for next year’s yearbook.” The yearbook staffers left the workshop on Tuesday with more knowledge and more ideas than they had started with.
Yarbook workshop was especially meaningful to the Senior leaders Emma Prestage, Schlea Thomas and me (Senior Pages Editor). Prestage said: "This was really special because going to workshop really made us (the seniors) realize that we are leaders not only in yearbook but also through other aspects in school."
