The French are recuperating
After Mady and Ken Kades and Sharon and Rich Maloney set off alarms at a market when they left with the carts, and drove the locals off the French country roads, the daily cognac tours were appreciated. The couples tripped to a 12th-century French farmhouse in Saint Sauvant that the Kades secured at a charity auction. They could barely squeeze their car through the white gate every day, and the Marie Antoinette décor inspired Mady to purchase a beheaded (but feathered) chicken for dinner when the restaurants were closed. Fields of lavender everywhere and a bakery next door emitted sensory-overload smells. If you see Mady and Sharon sport a scarf and large horn-rimmed glasses, it’s a “scarryover” from their adventure.
