Remembering Harry Pepper

Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Harry Pepper, who passed away peacefully yesterday at the age of 104. His long life was filled with frequent bowling games and times spent with family and friends.

Buzz editor Joni Hoffman, who grew up with his family, described his infectious spirit and said, “It’s hard not to think about Papa with a huge smile on your face.”

Harry was prominently featured in our December 2008 story on Wii games; we assembled a group of 10 Buzz readers over 50 to try out the Wii system – new at that time – and, naturally, he quickly took to Wii bowling, even though he was 98 then. Read the story here.

There will be a memorial service for Harry on Friday, 11:30 a.m., Congregation Emanu El in the Barish Sanctuary.
