A clip-worthy article
Please thank Dave Schafer for writing this story [When an Aging Parent Lives Far Away, by Dave Schafer, May 2014].
I couldn’t put it down. He so captured the emotions of the women that I felt their anguish, joy, indecision, relief and their courage to transition to new life settings. As Dave showed, transitioning is hard, but it’s a journey we make over and over throughout life.
I’ve also cut out and saved the “Red flags, resources and tips” box for future use.
This story will generate many conversations between grown children and their parents even if they aren’t ready to move from their homes at this time. Thank you, Buzz, for one more great story and great issue.

Profile brings sweet attention
I’ve been getting calls, emails and texts all week. Everyone loves the article [Mother’s Day Spotlight: Beth Stephan, by Annie Blaylock McQueen, May 2014]. Thank you for working so hard to make the article so nice. It has been fun hearing from friends all over town.

Girls inspiring service
I am so hopeful to read that there are kids out there that believe in service to others [Buzz Kidz: Tiny Dancers, by Laurel Davis, age 9, The Tanglewood/River Oaks Buzz, May 2014]. I’m very impressed that such young girls are taking initiative to help others and make change. Thank you, Laurel, Caroline, Marie, Corinne, Claire and Kendall! Please keep it up. The world needs you!

In favor of Zen
I loved the Zen Moms article [by Andria Frankfort, May 2014], and I think you picked some of the best moms to represent zen! I struggle with staying calm while raising three very active kids, and have to remind myself each day to be grateful and present in the moment – not stressed out or frustrated with our hectic schedules. I practice yoga, which helps me stay focused, grounded and present. Great article, Andria!
