School Buzz a hit
I was so happy to see your addition of School Buzz in the August issue [School Buzz: Introducing our correspondents, August 2014]. As the mom of a rising junior at Strake Jesuit, and as an advocate for children through my [nonprofit] work in 12 Houston-area schools (+Works), it’s wonderful to give these future leaders a voice not only on their campuses, but in the wider community. Thanks to you for sharing their important perspectives and news with us, and encouraging their skills as young journalists. And if that wasn’t enough to whet our appetites for fall, Dai’s column on Houston Restaurant Weeks [This Month in Dining, by Dai Huynh, August 2014] was just the ticket to get us out of the heat and into some great Houston kitchens for a cause.

Kinkaid student a fan too
I wanted to let you know how great I think it is that The Buzz is offering high school writers the opportunity to write/blog as “correspondents” representing our local schools. For those of us (teens) who wish to pursue journalism in college, being given the chance to write for such well-respected community publications, such as The Buzz and the newspaper [The Jewish Herald-Voice] I write a weekly teen column for, not only affords us the ability to reach out and relay information as “teen voices,” but more importantly, enables us to gain valuable experience, responsibility and expertise in our journalistic endeavors. Good luck to all Buzz correspondents, and best wishes on a great year of writing!

Westbury Christian also on board
As a former student journalist (from the days when we’d never heard the word blog!), I am really excited about seeing how this goes for all of the participants.

St. John’s happy with idea
I just got my Buzz the other day. The spread looked great. Best of luck with the new feature. There are some extraordinary high school journalists, and I'm glad your readers will have the opportunity to see their work.

IWA pleased to be a part
I receive The Buzz at my house and saw the article. What a great idea! I brought the magazine to school today to share. Thank you for having Monica Da Jose be a part of your team.

Student travels inspire
What a wonderful article in The Buzz [Travel Buzz: Stepping out of the bubble, by Tracy L. Barnett, August 2014] – right before school starts. As soon as the electronic link is available, I will forward it to broader audience. What a bunch of lucky kids to have experienced Germany winning the World Cup [while] in Germany. It is all about Fussball over there! I wish I had been able to go on Frau Sisler’s trip.
