Summer Adventures of Memorial Mustangs
As much as I hate to admit it, the summer of 2015 is sadly coming to a close. The number of days until school starts back up again continues to grow smaller and smaller, but thankfully many Memorial students did not let this year’s break go to waste. In fact, many students had incredible experiences and travels, including trips to different states and even foreign countries!
Before we wish this summer goodbye, let’s recap on some of these amazing adventures:
Germany Soccer Trip
Grace Yochum, an incoming sophomore, traveled to Germany to have a chance to play soccer against German teams. The games were challenging and competitive, but Grace also had the opportunity to tour the country while she was there and experience the culture. Her favorite part about the trip was “hanging out with the other teams after the game,” she said. In the end, her team won all five of their games.
Dance Intensive in Orlando, Florida
Nicole Wright, an incoming sophomore, went to Orlando Ballet School for five weeks to study dance and practice six out of the seven days each week. “Having the opportunity to visit famous attractions and take class from wonderful international dance teachers made sure to pack every day with a new adventure,” she said. “…whether in the studio or out in the Florida heat.” She even had the experience of meeting “many interesting people from all over the world.”
Oh, Canada
This year, my family and I went on a trip to New Brunswick, Canada. It was really fun and an amazing experience. I’d never spent any time in Canada before, and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but when I arrived it was really amazing. Just the weather alone was a reason to love the trip. Obviously, Houston summers are hot and humid, almost to the point of being unbearable. New Brunswick was basically the exact opposite. I made lots a memories with my family and had a great time each day we were there.
I don’t want summer to end, and I’m sure that if you asked any other high school student they would say the same thing, but hopefully everyone got to take a break and have a ton of fun before the school year begins.
