Alexander-Smith Academy student Grace Smith is an artist by nature. This year, she has set her sights on a new hobby: archery.
Talent is something that almost fuels Alexander-Smith Academy. I mean really, I already wrote about this topic before, but we just have so much! We’re a small school, so it’s not hard to meet people, and once you meet someone, it’s very easy to know almost everything about them. But sometimes even the quiet people of ASA have louder voices than those you hear in the halls.
One such person is Grace Smith, an artist by nature, and potter-extraordinaire. However, this year she has set her sights on a new hobby: archery. When most people think hobbies, their mind may rest on common pastimes, such as learning an instrument or learning to dance. And that’s just the reason Grace chose archery, sharing with me: “[Archery] has always interested me. I wanted to do something that not a lot of people can say they have done.”
“I actually started thinking about doing archery during a laser tag game. I know the two don’t sound similar, but somehow it got me to start thinking about other, uncommon activities, and I guess the similarity of aiming at a target stood out to me.”
Grace has been practicing with archery since the beginning of the school year and says she plans on continuing being an archer for the foreseeable future. Adding it to just another of her many talents.
