Buzz summer interns were busy exploring Houston all summer. Here’s a list of top spots we’ve visited and fun ideas to consider. .

  • Beat the heat and visit the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Don’t miss the exhibit “Pixel Forest and Worry will Vanish” an immersive and interactive exhibit, available at MFAH through Sept. 17.
  • Explore some of the cool mural walls around town. The interns checked out murals in the Montrose, Downtown and The Heights area.
  • Spend a day inside at the Museum of Natural Sciences. The exhibit on Gladiators is fun and educational (open through Sept. 4.). The museum has everything from dinosaurs to ancient Egyptian artifacts.
  • “Pixel Forest and Worry Will Vanish” by Pipilotti Rist

Work out or chill out at Evelyn’s Park. The Buzz hosts a weekly workout in collaboration with Evelyn’s Park and Pledge To Fitness on Thursdays at 8:30 a.m. Evelyn’s Park also has Food Truck Mondays and ton of other fun events and activities for the whole family.

  • Take the family to Levy Park in the Upper Kirby area. You’ll find a dog park and a fun kid zone with a splash pad plus ongoing activities and events. There’s always something for the whole family to enjoy.
  • Look at some intricate art and play in a park filled with colorful mosaics at Smither Park. Stop by the Orange House next door as well, for more artwork in a cool environment.
  • Check out the Beer Can House, a cultural Houston landmark.
  • Explore Space Center Houston, the official visitor center of NASA.
  • Kayak adventure

Buzz summer interns Maddy Payne (pictured), Jordan Miller-Mandel and photographer Dylan Aguilar describe their kayak adventure on Buffalo Bayou.

Catch some scenic views kayaking on Buffalo Bayou. Click here for more information and an inside scoop on what you’ll experience there.

  • Explore nature and get outside by going to the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center. They have numerous amounts of shaded trails to walk. It’s a great way to spend a summer day.
  • Take a walk or run on Tanglewood Boulevard. The Boulevard is an easy, two-mile track with beautiful trees, making it for the perfect quick (or long) workout.
  • Take the little ones to the River Oaks Pumpkin Park, to play and visit the inspirational Wishing Trees.
  • Visit the Baps Shri Swaminarayan Mandir temple and transport to a different world.

  • Cheer for the Houston Astros, the Houston Dynamo, and this fall, the Houston Texans.
  • Cook a gourmet meal at home for friends and family. See recipes by Karina Arnold, who interned with The Buzz this summer. Plus check out the Cooking Buzz column on cooking and entertaining by The Junior League of Houston.
