Event Roundup: What to Look Forward to This Weekend
Happy Friday! This weekend is full of fun and festivities, including the kickoff of Mardi Gras Galveston and, of course, the Big Game on Sunday. Here are a few events going on this weekend:
Mardi Gras kicks off today on the Island. Look forward to parades, live music and much more going on through Feb. 13.
Celebrate Mardi Gras at Houston Museum of Natural Science this evening with live music, dancing, food trucks and more.
Calling all young bookworms: The Bookworm Festival will take place on Saturday morning at Spring Oaks Middle School. Look forward to author appearances, including 2016 Newbery Medal winner Matt de la Peña (Last Stop on Market Street) and bestselling illustrator Loren Long (Otis, Of Thee I Sing) who will share the keynote address.
The New England Paw-triots and the Pup-delphia Eagles will face off in the Puppy Bowl by Houston Pets Alive on Saturday afternoon at Dogwood Houston. Dozens of adoptable puppies will be seeking their forever homes. All furry friends are invited to join the fun.
The heart Stroll at Silver Street will be an early Valentine’s celebration on Saturday afternoon and opportunity to enjoy a selection of jewelry, sculptures, paintings, photography, mixed media and more. While you're strolling, enjoy sweet treats, live music and a photo booth with your Valentine.
Join the Bellaire Parks and Recreation Department for the 18th Annual Daddy and Daughter Dance. Dads, bring your daughter(s) and let them be the Belle of the Ball for a sweet night of dancing and fun at Bellaire United Methodist Church. There will be music, refreshments, face painting, a photo booth and more. Pre-register in person at the Bellaire Recreation Center; there will be no registration the night of the dance.
Head to the Kemah Boardwalk with the family to see their Yachty Gras Mardi Gras-themed boat parade on Saturday evening.
Super Bowl Sunday
