Surpassed her expectations
The colors, smells, sights, sounds, tastes, history, architecture and customs in India surprised world traveler Mary Reed Lankford, a geography teacher at Memorial High School. She and son Charles Reed, a math teacher and coach at Spring Woods High School, took an eight-day journey during Spring Break. The Taj Mahal, a mausoleum for Shah Jahan’s beloved third wife who died in childbirth, did not disappoint. Charles will use equations in his classroom to figure out the size of the Taj Mahal, to teach the “golden ratio” of A to B, 1.618. Unexpected were the cow patties as a cheap form of fuel for cooking and warming homes.
