This summer, Joni and I drove to North Carolina’s beautiful Outer Banks so our golden retriever Bailey could meet our son’s golden, Sock. At first, the thought of driving 3,000 miles for a doggie playdate didn’t sound appealing. But traveling with our four-legged family member made the miles pass quickly. Almost everywhere we went was dog friendly, and because everyone wants to pet a golden retriever, we got to meet lots of people. As it turns out, traveling with (wo)man’s best friend has become increasingly popular. Check out this month’s Traveling With Dogs: Thinking outside the crate by Tracy L. Barnett and Friends and Dogs: Meeting through fur babies by Annie Blaylock McQueen. Also in this month’s issue, meet our 2019-20 School Buzz correspondents. Now in its sixth year, our School Buzz program has grown to nearly 70 students from 24 area high schools – it gives high school journalists an online community to share what is happening in their schools. You can find it, along with everything else – including lots of pup photos, of course – at thebuzzmagazines.com. [email protected]
